ABOUT US

YESTERDAY

I was a little girl who played at discovering new horizons, new lands. I ran barefoot among the citrus groves and olive groves, breathing in the intense scent of nature. I followed the water channels with amazement in my eyes, watched every drop make its way to the thirsty fields. I scanned the slow and wise gestures of my grandparents, their silent love for the earth was reflected in every seed planted, in every clod caressed by their hands marked by time.

My childhood passed close to my grandparents, like every child of that era. In spring and summer, my grandmother collected broom and jasmine flowers, weaving the threads of tradition with patience and devotion. Hand weaving still appeared alive to me in every broom and wool blanket that I touched with great care. In winter, the grandmother harvested the olives, while my grandfather, an oil mill worker who knew the sacrifices, dedicated himself to the local oil mill, transforming those small green fruits into a precious liquid gold. He too, like many, thought of the path of emigration, but the call of his land pushed him to stay, and with him an indissoluble love for these lands took root in our family.

I grew up among the stories of grandmothers, stories that smelled of burning fire and winter evenings. My grandfather, a soldier and cook in the field, narrated life away from home, and my grandmother passed it down to us, along with old fairy tales, between bread dough and homemade pasta. Together, with curious hands, we collected oregano and tomatoes to hear our past mumbling in the pots. As lightly, I stole snails from green leaves, unaware of the anticipation that nature demands for every gift.

My father, always looking forward, purchased the first tractor in 1972, and with it a piece of the future. Shortly thereafter the second tractor and a second terrain, then others. The horizon ahead of us was expanding more and more. To support the family, she also worked elsewhere, but the heart was always there, among our clods) Mother and father, with immense sacrifices and with the tenacity of those who know that the land repays those who love it, resumed a family tradition and carried it forward.

Thus our company was born, rooted in quality and authenticity, wrapped in the warmth of traditions, in the authentic sense of family and in the purest human values. In 2017, I picked up that legacy as you pick up a lit torch, creating my own oil mill. It was the year of our first oil production, my father was my strength. We immediately opened the doors to the foreign market.

In 2018, with pride and respect for our humble origins, I thought about the restyling of the logo, and our company officially became “Tenuta Versaci”: a name that smells of sun-kissed land, deep roots, dreams cultivated with hands strong and heart full of passion. A name that recalls my father's desire to create an “estate”, starting from that humble country house from the early ‘900s immersed in nature.

When I look at it today, I still imagine it there, sitting in front of the fireplace, looking beyond time, surrounded by the tools of agriculture, to the sound of a carriage that ran through the fields. His hands, always marked by fatigue and imbued with humility, selected olives at that time and wove “crosses” of dried figs, unaware of giving rise to a story that would last over time.
