THE TERRITORY

Tenuta Versaci is located in a vast and uncontaminated area, near Pietra Cappa, where the geology and microclimate create ideal conditions for the cultivation of olive trees and citrus fruits, in particular the prized bergamot.

The geological composition of the soil, characterized by well-drained clay soils rich in nutrients, offers an optimal environment for the roots of olive trees, allowing the absorption of essential nutrients and giving EVO oil a unique organoleptic profile. The mild and temperate microclimate favors a balanced ripening of the fruits, enhancing the aromatic characteristics of both olives and citrus fruits.

In particular, the bergamot finds its ideal habitat in this area. This citrus fruit is mainly grown along our Ionian coast. The mineral-rich soil and temperate climate help develop the distinctive aroma and unique properties, making it a valuable ingredient.

The area is also rich in history and natural beauty. This area, once the heart of Magna Graecia, has seen the olive culture flourish, a symbol of peace and serenity, thanks to the influence of Greek colonists who introduced advanced agricultural techniques and fine varieties. This historical legacy is counted in our agricultural practices, where traditions combine with innovation to offer excellent products.

I remember with emotion the stories told by my grandparents, who told how the ancient Greeks venerated the olive tree and made a fine oil from it, used not only in cooking but also in sacred rituals. Today, walking among the olive groves and citrus groves of our company, I feel the profound connection with that thousand-year history and with the land that continues to give us extraordinary fruits.
